I didn’t know that either.
It was supposed to be a fairly productive day and it started out that way. However, a less than perfect lunch followed up by the realization that the plague has arrived at the Murphy Household had derailed progress a bit.
For the second day in a row this week I’ve managed to get some exercise in. Today featured twenty minutes on the elliptical followed by a walk around the lake at Penguin Park in the Northland. With drizzly weather on hand all day, I have to say it was not an unpleasant walk after running my heart rate up at Maple Woods Fitness facility. There was no swimming to be had however, as that is mainly limited to the indoor pool down at Longview Community College, thirty minutes away at optimal speed.

Second Draft
I spent last night going over half of the current short story effort and realized that the story didn’t start until the fourth scene. With a notation to rearrange things in order to make the fourth scene the first, I started on the second draft of this story today. A number of world building changes will be made, to include a bit of research on a chapel where much of the main action will take place at.
Another problem is a basic matter of character development, namely that the character thinks but does not feel. Yes, there are tags in the narrative describing the protag’s emotional state but that is not the same as actually “feeling something.” For that you have to generate resonance within the reader, make them feel what the protag is feeling. When you have that, they’ll follow you where ever you go.
Still, progress is good on this effort.

Joint Writing Project – Two
I have not had a chance to talk to my co-writer, Berry Henderson, about this yet but I think with the new market opportunities out there, it might be time to dust this particular project off and see what can be done with it.
This is an alternate history piece of sorts with a dab of the mystical, Berry’s speciality. I’m seriously considering putting a coat of polish on the longer version of our effort, running it past him for a coat of polish before sending it off to a few new target markets.

Other Efforts
Last night I sent Maternal Soldier back out to market. We’ll see what kind of luck we have with that.
So it goes.
